말레이 "北과 단교해도 상관없다"…반북 정서 확산
The apparent assassination of Kim Jong-nam has caused tension between Malaysia and North Korea to bubble over.
With Pyongyang continuing to make wild accusations and criticize the probe,… high-ranking Malaysian officials are re-evaluating how important it really is to maintain ties with North Korea.
Kim Mok-yeon reports.
In the aftermath of the assassination of Kim Jong-nam, anti-North Korea sentiment has been spreading in Malaysia.
Malaysian ministers have criticized North Korea’s comments about the country and are demanding the government re-examine its ties with Pyongyang.
Last week, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Razak criticized its North Korean ambassador Kang Chol’s claim that Pyongyang cannot trust Malaysia’s handling of the probe.
"..The statement by the ambassador was totally uncalled for, it is considered diplomatically rude on his part."
Following this, Malaysian foreign minister hit out at North Korea for being caught in a delusion and continuing to tell lies.
On Sunday, Malaysia’s culture minister said that he does not see any benefits from maintaining relations with North Korea, citing Japan as an example.
The country’s education and defense ministers have also accused North Korea of crossing the line and damaging the nations’ diplomatic ties.
As the investigation into the murder of Kim Jong-nam rumbles on, tension has been building up between the two countries, to the extent that this could lead to a severance of diplomatic relations.
