In theory, this 16 dBi antenna can have indoors range up to 500 meters or 1000 meters outdoors
The antenna has POE kits
So we can only use 1 RJ-45 to powered our router and connect to the Internet
mounting kits help we direct the antenna to another router or where our clients are located
We can use the push button for some purpose such as reset or WPS button
First we need to open the case
There are 2 screws under the router
We can open latches using flat screw driver
Now we will desolder the TP-LINK WR740N original 5 dBi antenna
Use some screw to fix the board in the back of 16 dBi antenna
We also need to fix the antenna reflection in to cover box with 3 crews
Soldering new atenna in to the board
Almost done, if you want to use POE to power this box, just use the POE kits, in my case, I will use this box to repeat another WiFi
So I am not using this kits
But here is how you put it in to the hole
Now I connect the box to my computer to config it, after configuration finish, I just use 1 power cable and my router work as a WiFi station
My router is flashed with newest OpenWrt Chaos Calmer 15.01
The router connect to chiakhoavang.vn WiFi as a client and broadcast another WiFi call FREE WIFI to distribute marketing to it clients
We can see the original WiFi is weak while my FREE WIFI is very strong, so the TP-LINK WR740N is repeate signal for client far away
And if client connect to FREE WiFi Marketing, they will see some banner then directed to pre-configured URL before accessing the Internet

We can also monitor how many client is connecting to our captive portal splash page using Google Analytics tools
