I’m gonna light a match in the morning
blow it out before the flame is gone,
and I’m gonna start a fire in the evening,
burn the truths that never came undone.

I’m gonna cut my hair in the morning,
scatter all the strands across the floor.
And I’m gonna lock the doors in the evening,
‘cause I don’t want you coming ‘round no more.

Maybe it’s just false pretense,
could even call it self defense,
it doesn’t make a difference to me.

to get my mind to disregard,
I’d rather be in better company.
